 Dr. Tivakaran is a native of Pennsylvania.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology from The Pennsylvania State University.  He received his medical education from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.    He completed his internship and residency at The North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York.  He completed his Cardiology Fellowship in the Kettering Health Network Grandview Hospital & Medical Center.

 Dr. Tivakaran has been well trained in all aspects of cardiology.  He performs heart catheterizations, as well as interprets  ultrasounds,  cat scans,  and nuclear scans of the heart.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiovascular CT.

 Dr. Tivakaran serves as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Wright State University School of Medicine.  He is actively involved with the clinical training of medical students, internal medicine residents, and cardiology fellows.
